2011 & 1/2

2011 is now more than half over, and summer's finally arrived (although if you are in San Francisco you wouldn't know it from the rain).  Any excuse to make a list of albums is a good excuse, but "2011 so far" is an extra good excuse.  Here's lists from me (aw), destroythescene and R.A.Williams; MRT will be posting his list tomorrow.

These are the albums I've been digging the most so far this year- I took a few albums off the list at the last second (ducktails, tim cohen, a few others) because I wasn't sure if I liked them THAT much.  The ones I like best are in bold.

battles - gloss drop (warp)
black devil disco club - circus (lo)
burzum - fallen (back on black)
Burzum - Jeg Faller (Fallen) by metalassault

clams casino - b-sides instrumental & remixes (self-released)

  3. that Black Devil Disco Club was pretty interesting. liked that one quite a bit. also, that Tune-Yards was really good too. they're probably about to blow up big time having just got mentioned high up on the hype chart in Rolling Stone.

  4. Ugh jesus I just wrote the longest comment about black devil disco club on my phone only to have is vanish into the ether when I hit post. Anyway rob check out the first album he did (black devil - disco) in the 70s, its so good that when rephlex reissued it people suspected it was actually RDJ recording under a pseudonym (of course, people think that about everything rephlex puts out...)

  5. Also rolling stone is completely irrelevant these days so I doubt tuneyards hype will be affected by that

  6. yeah that psychedelic horseshit album is ridiculous, it also reminds me of what would happen if black dice and ween jammed on a budget, also if you like his vocals you should really check out the frogs' first two albums, and the shit also has a definite touch of sun city girls.

alex as for your list i am really digging the black devil disco club, and clams casino

rob-lovin the egyptrixx and clams casino as well
