So i loved "Yellow House" their second album. I didn't like the "Friend" ep, i thought it was too disjointed and too many guest tracks not appearances, actual guest tracks of bands covering Grizzly Bear.
Now we have over a couple of years the new album...and it's kind of boring. Very well made, labored over meticulously but all of the grit or spontaneous nature has been wiped away. There are about 5 tracks on this album that offer anything in the way of pleasant surprises or anything resembling the grand scope of Yellow House.
The song Two Weeks is pretty amazing, and apart from that nothing really comes close. This is not a bad album, it's not even mediocre. It's pretty good, in fact. It just isn't AMAZING. I recommend it for a lazy well made old sounding indie folk album. It is not one of the top albums of the year, low on the list sure but a bit of a disappointment given this thing was supposed to be as good as Merriweather Post Pavilion.
